Summary

By Liko's request, Rystal starts recounting the tale of the Explorers and Laqua, starting with how she had first met Lucius.

Running away from a group of thieves, Rystal and Terapagos are saved by Lucius, who scares the thieves away with Rayquaza. At the sight of Terapagos, Lucius becomes intrigued by it and notes that he's never seen one before, with Rystal revealing she had first met it within the Great Crater of Paldea, affectionately referring to it by the nickname "Pagogo". Later, Lucius shows Rystal the Scarlet Book and Heath's tale of meeting Terapagos, though Rystal still continues to refer to her partner by its nickname. When Lucius expresses his desire to find the mythical paradise Laqua, Rystal announces she'll join him on his adventure. During their journey, Lucius meets Arboliva, Galarian Moltres, Lapras, Kleavor, and Entei, which join him on his travels. When Lucius and Rystal stop in a town to ask people for information about Laqua, most of them chalk it off as a mere fairy tale. However, one man, Gibeon, has gathered plenty of data pertaining to Laqua and fully believes in its existence as well. Seeing a fellow person seeking Laqua, Lucius invites him to join them. Accompanied by Gibeon and his White Zygarde, the three adventures name themselves the Explorers and embark on a long adventure together, which ultimately leads to them finding Laqua.

Summary

Following the appearance of Diana's Squawkabilly outside her window, Liko, her friends, and Friede follow it to find Diana herself in Brave Olivine's kitchen. Having heard of their current location in Kitakami from Lucca, she had ridden her Arcanine all the way there to reach them, as she has something important to share with them: new information about Lucius. Before sharing it, however, she challenges her granddaughter to a Pokémon battle. As such, the Rising Volt Tacklers gather on the wing deck to witness the showdown. Diana declares that this time, she won't hold back. Liko remembers how last time, even her and Roy working together had only been enough to barely land a single hit on Arcanine. This time, though, she and Floragato are feeling much more confident about their chances, despite being at a type disadvantage.

The battle begins with Liko ordering a Magical Leaf. Arcanine avoids the attack with Extreme Speed, which Liko has Floragato take head-on while the Magical Leaf curves around and strikes Arcanine anyway while it was briefly immobilized. Arcanine follows up with Flamethrower, but Floragato dodges it and hits Arcanine with Acrobatics. She continues to execute this same maneuver repeatedly afterwards, avoiding being hit while slowly building up damage on Arcanine. Diana is happy to see how far Floragato has come since their last battle, but then assumes a more serious expression and shouts out a passionate command for a Flare Blitz. The strong Fire-type attack grazes Floragato as she tries to avoid it, but she still manages to get up. Diana orders another Flare Blitz, but Floragato manages to hit Arcanine first with Sucker Punch, cancelling out the attack. This, however, ends up only benefitting Arcanine, as being hit by a Dark-type move has triggered its Ability, Justified, boosting its strength. While nervous, Liko declares that they can grow stronger too and Terastallizes Floragato. Diana orders one more Flare Blitz from Arcanine. Knowing that Magical Leaf will burn up if she just fires it off, Liko looks for an opening. Spotting Arcanine's feet, Liko has Floragato attack them with Magical Leaf, successfully making Arcanine stumble and fall over, which she capitalizes on by ordering a big Magical Leaf, which is enough to defeat Arcanine. Diana is happy to see how much Liko has improved in such a short amount of time, which she attributes to her friends pushing her forward during the Terastal Training course. As promised, Diana now agrees to show the information she discovered about Lucius.

Summary

Liko, Roy, Dot, Friede, and Perrin continue their search of Kleavor of the Six Heroes on Tengu Mountain. As they keep finding more gouges that Kleavor has left behind, Liko dons Lucius's belt. The group arrives at a waterfall, where they witness a tree falling down it being sliced apart in an instant, with Kleavor revealing itself from behind the waterfall only moments later. Unexpectedly, Lapras releases itself from its Ancient Poké Ball and glares at Kleavor. Liko suddenly realizes why the gouges left behind by Kleavor have looked familiar to her; they are identical to the scars on Lapras's neck, meaning that it received those wounds from Kleavor. The two members of the Six Heroes start fighting each other, forcing the group to take cover as the two powerful Pokémon exchange blow after blow. However, the battle soon ends as suddenly as it started, leading the group to a relieving realization that them fighting was just their way of greeting each other. With Kleavor calmed down for the moment, Liko addresses it and asks it to join them so they can fulfill Lucius's promise and reach Laqua. Following a moment of contemplation, Kleavor disappears behind the waterfall again. Lapras solemnly returns to its Ancient Poké Ball, but both Liko and Roy remain determined to continue the pursuit.

Perrin figures out that there must be something behind the waterfall if Kleavor disappeared there. Roy, upon inspection, indeed finds a hidden cave entrance behind the waterfall. The group enters the hidden limestone cave, where they discover even more gouge marks. Friede deduces that the systematic marks must be signs of Kleavor having trained in the cave. While the group traverses through the cave, Perrin's Growlithe gets distracted by a Noibat, forcing Perrin and Friede to chase after it, leaving the children to continue the pursuit on their own. Following a breeze coming from outside, they find themselves in a bamboo grove, where the ground is littered with pieces of bamboo cut up by Kleavor, which they spot in front of them doing just that. Kleavor turns to face them, which they take as an invitation to a battle to test their strength. Not wanting to let Kleavor get away while they wait for Friede, the children call forth their respective first partner Pokémon and begin the confrontation.

Summary

Liko, Roy, Dot, Friede, and Perrin are heading up Tengu Mountain on the search for Lucius's Kleavor, with Dot struggling as per usual due to her lack of stamina. When the group takes a brief break from climbing to talk about Perrin's photo of Kleavor, Perrin tells the others how she has had passion and talent for Pokémon photography since she was a child, which helped to inspire her to become a world-travelling professional photographer as a career. Perrin mentions how Friede's map app has actually helped her in tracking down various Pokémon for photographing in her career, much to Frides's delight. Perrin tells the group that unfortunately she doesn't remember exactly where on Tengu Mountain she encountered Kleavor, as it immediately attacked her and sent her fleeing. Liko and Roy suggest they explore the mountain to track down Kleavor's location anyway, so the group continues on their way. Perrin tells Friede if it's okay for school kids like Liko, Roy, and Dot to be on such a dangerous quest, to which Friede replies that they are evolving and getting stronger, just like their Pokémon, and that they can handle themselves.

The group heads into a nearby rocky clearing, where Crocalor gets hungry and reaches out for a Sitrus Berry resting on the ground, only for him and Roy to fall into a sinkhole, leaving them trapped at the bottom of a small fissure. While both of the survive the fall just fine, they have no way of climbing back up. Spotting a cave entrance, Roy tells the others above that he and Crocalor will find another way out. While Roy and Crocalor enter the cave, aboveground, the others are suddenly surrounded by a vicious pack of Houndoom and Houndour, who start attacking them for entering their territory. Friede sends forth Captain Pikachu and his Charizard to fend the pack off. Liko and Floragato briefly fend off some of the Dark Pokémon chasing after them as well, leaving Dot and Perrin to run on ahead. When Liko runs after them, she unknowingly ends up running down a different path than they did.

Summary

Climbing up Oni Mountain, Liko, Roy, Dot, and Friede finally reach the end of the Infernal Pass and arrive at the Crystal Pool at the mountain's summit. They spot a signpost, which informs them of a local legend that says that the Crystal Pool can allow one to see those who have died. However, the person they've come to meet, Briar, is nowhere in sight, so Friede sets out to look for her while telling the children to wait. The trio's first partner Pokémon start playing at the shore of the pond, but their playtime is interrupted when an agitated Milotic suddenly emerges from the water before them and promptly Terastallizes into a Ghost type. Left with no other choice, the children start to battle Milotic, but its movements and counterattacks prove too fast for them. Liko tries to use Floragato's vine to hold it in place, but instead, Milotic ends up pulling Floragato underwater, forcing her to let go. Deciding on using a lure instead, Roy and Dot get an idea from a carnival game that Dot played back during the Countryside Harvest Festival. Floragato ties her vine around Quaxwell, who dances in the shallow water to lure Milotic in, at which point Floragato pulls Quaxwell to safety and Crocalor uses Disarming Voice. Surprisingly, Milotic uses Disarming Voice right back, and soon both it and Crocalor start singing to each other, with Milotic's Terastallized state becoming undone in the process as the two song-loving Pokémon communicate through their singing.

Just as the pacified Milotic dives away, Friede returns with Briar, who explains that Milotic's unprovoked aggression must've been caused by the Crystal Pool's composition. She and the young Rising Volt Tacklers introduce themselves to each other, with Briar having heard of them from Raifort. When the subject of their meeting, Terapagos, emerges from Liko's backpack, Briar goes beside herself with excitement and tries to examine it, only for Terapagos to freak out and run away from her until Floragato manages to calm her down. Briar notes that she has actually seen another awakened Terapagos before, much to Liko's surprise. She also mentions how the crystals in the Crystal Pool resemble those found in Paldea, explaining how wild Pokémon are able to Terastallize in Kitakami as well. She explains that she found this out while researching the Terastal phenomenon, which is heavily connected to Terapagos. Both sides of the conversation are eager to learn more from the other, so they head to Briar's tent nearby. While they set up tables and a campfire, Roy asks Briar who her partner Pokémon is, but she admits that her work has been so busy that she hasn't found herself one yet. Dot finds this relatable, also being very into studying Pokémon, although she does have Quaxwell watching after her.

Summary

The Rising Volt Tacklers are on their way to meet Sohdayo, a former member of the team who left them before Dot joined the crew, in the hopes that he could have information that'd help them track down Entei of the Six Heroes. Unlike the others, though, Mollie seems very irritated at the thought of meeting him and unwilling to believe anything he'll have to say. The Brave Olivine eventually lands at the agreed meeting spot at a savanna. While waiting for Sohdayo to arrive, Liko, Roy, and Dot venture out to see if they can find any Pokémon. At first, they fail to find anything, but soon after discovering an oasis with barely any water left in it, they are suddenly charged at and attacked by a Pokémon that Roy's Rotom Phone identifies as a Farigiraf. By working together, they are able to fight it off, but before they can start wondering why it was so angry, they're approached by a man accompanied by a Wynaut. He starts claiming that they must the rumored secret society that goes around fighting Pokémon, declaring he's got himself a scoop. The group is confused by the sudden claims, but at that moment, Friede shows up, introducing the man as the friend of his whom they were looking for: Sohdayo. When brought to the Brave Olivine, Sohdayo is happy to see his old friends again, though none more so that Mollie. He implies that Mollie used to look different, but before he can go into more detail for the children, an enraged Mollie threatens to send him flying if he says more. While Mollie continues to fume, Sohdayo turns to Friede regarding the thing he wanted to talk with him about. However, before Friede can even start his question, Sohdayo interrupts him, assuming he wants to talk about what he's been up to since he left, and takes Friede with him to continue the conversation elsewhere.
